The Tokugawa Ieyasu Katana is the consequent develepoment of the “Swords” of handforged swords. This sword comes with a Bo-Hi in the blade now. Because of the Bo-Hi the blade looks even more elegant and combines small weight with a high resistibility. As a peculiarity a second tsuba design can be offered in this class: Take (bamboo) instead of Ryu (dragon). This sword is extremely sharp and can be recommended for tameshigiri (cutting tatami omote) without doubt, but we do recommend the tameshigiri only to advanced martial arts practitioners due to the fact that a minor technique could do harm to the sword or even yourself. In memory of the famous samurai and eventual first Shogun of Japan, Tokugawa Ieyasu, this katana is chosen to bear his name.

Tokugawa Ieyasu (1543 - 1616) was the third and last samurai to unite Japan. After centuries of permanent wars in the country he managed it to establish a long lasting peace. With the establishment of the Tokugawa-Shogunat (during the Edo Period) he became the first Shogun of the country. Thanks to his outstanding skills as a an army commander in association with his remarkable understanding for social affairs Tokugawa Iyeasu takes up one of the most important positions upon the Japanese emperors. Another proof underlining his skills as a samurai is the fact that he died a natural death, contrary to most of his former opponents.
